Let the countdown begin

This Saturday, our Little Man turns 6!! I cannot believe this. I literally get tears in my eyes everytime I think about this. It's like I blinked and he went from being my big baby boy to actually being more of a "little man." Unbeliveable!

I thought it would be fun to start a countdown to Alex's birthday. So this post will be dedicated to the day Alex was born.

On March 5, 2003 I took a home pregnancy test and discovered I was pregnant. I literally ran around the house screaming with delight (the cats weren't delighted by my screaming). Mike came home from work and I welcomed him home by saying "Hi Daddy." Being the smart guy he is, he figured it out fast.

Fast forward to Friday, November 14th, 2003. I had begged my doctor for over a week to induce labor. they estimated Alex's due date to be November 13th but I knew it should have been earlier. So by November 14th I was miserable. So eventually my doctor agreed to induce the day after the due date.

I remember it was VERY cold that morning. It also never really warmed up after this date. It's like his birthday marked the beginning of cold weather and has pretty much done so every year since (although this year may be an exception since it's been so warm). I was actually having some contrations on my own by this point, but nothing serious or consistent.

Induction started around 7:30 am. At around 11:30, I was begging for pain meds. It wasn't until 8:26 pm that we would meet Alexander Michael Hill for the first time. My first thought was "WOW! He's huge!" Our "little" man weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces. It's amazing how the second I met him, I was instantly in love with him and would do anything for him.

He's been a blessing in our lives ever since. I feel so fortunate that God has placed him in our care.
